During the past decade, E. Jennings Tyson has developed an expertise in the successful delivery of non-profit community services. In 1992, he founded New Visions Economic Development Corporation (NVED) and successfully administered a $1.2 million grant from the U.S. Dept of Justice for the Weed and Seed Program. The program was designed to "weed out" criminal activities in the Vernon, Texas target area and to "seed" the area with positive drug prevention and education programs, neighborhood revitalization and improved housing. In 2011, Rev. Tyson expanded NVED to the greater metropolitan Oklahoma City area with the creation of New Visions Economic Development Corporation-Okc (NVEDC-Okc)
With the official launch and presence of NVEDC-Okc, our mission is to stimulate and nurture underrepresented communities in the realm of education, housing, healthcare, social justice and employment. When we are successful, NVEDC-Okc will help to create an equitable world where individuals can live well, create generational impact and destroy poverty of the spirit
